Become an Ambassador!

CALS Ambassadors serve prospective, admitted, and current CALS students who are seeking opportunities to enrich their undergraduate experience at UW-Madison. The selection committee will consider each applicant on an individual basis and welcome CALS students from a range of backgrounds, experiences, and academic and career interests. Record of past leadership, communication and public speaking skills, and diversity of experiences will be considered. Feb 1, 2021 – Application Opens
Mar 14, 2021 – Application Closes at 11:59pm CDT
Mar 15, 2021 – Interviews Begin
Apr 1, 2021 – Interviews Conclude
Apr 12, 2021 – Notified by Selection Committee
Apr 28, 2021 – New Ambassador Social

CALS Ambassador Qualifications/Criteria

  • Passionate and motivated to learn CALS programs, opportunities, and resources
  • High level of professionalism and strong customer service skills
  • Reliable attendance, punctual, flexible
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Team player and willingness to collaborate
  • A current CALS student in good academic standing

Ambassador Responsibilities & Events

  • Attend Mandatory Training (Last week in August)
  • Volunteer at CALS New Student Orientation (Day before Fall Semester Begins)
  • Volunteer at the WALSAA Fire-Up Event (1st Badger Football Game)
  • Assist in coordination and execution of CALS student events
  • Lead CALS tours to visiting families
  • Participate in January Calling Nights (1st & 2nd Week of Spring Semester)
  • Volunteer in the CALS Admitted Students Day (3rd Friday in April)
  • Represent CALS in a professional manner at all outreach events on and off-campus
